The Original Thomas Walkinshaw Racer!
This is the one and only genuine TWR
XJS showcar built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing and exhibited at numerous
events in the period when the original four race cars were running. It
also spent its time in Jaguar showrooms promoting the marque finally
residing in the Jaguar Heritage Collection until it was replaced by one
of the four race cars auctioned when TWR went into liquidation, costing
Jaguar Heritage around £125,000 for a car that, at least, required
recommissioning.
Over the last few years the car has been professionaly developed into a
full blown race car replicating the original four whilst also adding
21st Century technology and innovation.
The car already had a number of genuine Group A parts. In addition many
mechanical and cosmetic detailed parts were remanufactured to original
pictures and drawings.
The engine was built and developed by Rob Beere Racing. Unlike the
original 5.3 this is a 6.8 litre 12 throttled unit developing 595 bhp,
approx 150 bhp more than the original Group A cars. It also has a fully
mapped Motec engine management system. Unlike the originals it has a
much stronger gearbox in the shape of a Hewland SGT dogbox. It has the
original wheels which have been crack tested with new slick tyres plus a
second set which have been specially manufactured and fitted with a new
set of wet tyres.
This is by no means the full spec and suffice it to say it is every bit
as good as it looks in the pictures in show condition and test miles
only
